Get Well Soon Gift Baskets - 3 Reasons Why Get Well Gifts Make Us Feel Better

While these events did occur, I’m withholding names to protect the innocent, such as friends and spouses.

A while back, I made a couple of comments to the girls in my bowling league. I wanted to know, if receiving get well soon gift baskets would have made them feel better, during any point and time in their lives.

Here are my comments: “I'll bet you can tell me why get well soon gift baskets make us feel better when we're sick. And if you think about it, I’ll lay odds that you can remember the times in your life, when get well gifts would've lightened the load and brightened your day.”

One thing lead to another and that’s all it took for several of them to tell me their stories.

I’ve chosen two of their reactions and one of my own to share with you today. And to let you know, we all laughed and agreed that we hoped we weren’t sounding too much like babies (even though that’s what we felt like, when we were sick.)

Understanding and Thoughtfulness

When she was 28 years old, she had her tonsils removed, two small children and big responsibilities. She still remembers how painful it was. She said that it was difficult for her to take care of herself those first three days, much less two little babies.

If someone would have sent her a get well basket, she said she would've still felt rotten, but her ego would have felt better, just knowing someone understood her painful dilemma.

Support and Love

Another friend had gone to the doctor and was told her she was on the verge of pneumonia. Having three small children, she was counting on her husband’s help for a couple of days. Her husband announced that a friend was depending on him to go fishing with him and he left her in a lurch.

She said she felt helpless for a couple of days until her antibiotics kicked in. She, also, said that she wished he had realized how ill she was and that a get well basket would have boosted her spirits in a lighthearted and caring way.

Recognition and Acknowledgment

Get well soon gift baskets from a friend would have meant a lot to me, when I was misdiagnosed with MS and doctors were having a difficult time diagnosing my condition. It took several months before I got the help I needed. This was before fibromyaliga even had a name.

As I sat there, waiting and having tests ran and in pain from top to bottom, it would have been nice if my friends had felt comfortable asking me about my pain, instead of shying away from it.

When we’re not feeling well, it seems that our feelings can be easily hurt. Knowing we are loved or well liked…truly does make us feel better.

The nice thing about get well soon gift baskets, is the fact that they give us the ability to show we care. We can make a big fuss over those we care about, without the fussiness of a lot of words.

A Get Well Basket in the Pantry?

The cold and flu season's comin' around the corner.

Last week, my husband said, “I ache. Achoo!”

Ah-oh, bring on the liquids and Echinacea.

And get them a get well basket

Here's why...

One of things most generally found in a get well basket is a crossword puzzle book or something like that. Yeah, the super duper kind that keeps them busy for a year. They can keep it right there with them, just in case they need company...while you're away.

I felt like Alice that day, with all six of the Brady kids...SICK.

Out came the flour, eggs, raw chicken, carrots and celery. By the end of the day...my hair had this white pasty glue like stuff in it and I smelled like eggs.

My husband asked me where the snow came from in the kitchen.

And my bifocals were a little lopsided after that. I'll never know what happened to that tiny screw, when my glasses came tumbling down into the get well soup.

Enuff said about that day. Believe I'll buy that can of chicken noodle soup.

In fact, it comes in a get well basket, along with the noodles. You won't even have to attempt the gourmet cracker thingy, because the extra special buttery pretzels will do. No, this creative basket has it all. Yes, it has all the Health and Happiness that gets them back on their feet and you out of the kitchen.

Their shortbread cookies give them a sub-consciousness message to get well soon. Even their coffee sends them a message to get perkin'. And the Russ Berrie “Cranky” teddy bear delivers the message to cheer up...this'll be over soon.

There's more thoughtful gift ideas in the pantry than I can speak of today. So, until the next adventure in the kitchen...stay well and don't come to my house when you want a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup.

Shirley Bass

P.S. We're not doctors and do not recommend herbs or medicines for cold and flu symptoms. We just love the gift world and all that's in it, including you.

Tip of the Day!

Kind words go along ways. Appreciating, encouraging and uplifting each other means we never have to say we're sorry.

One way to think positively is to greet the day with positive thoughts, by reading books on the subject. One of my favorites is "Positive Words, Powerful Results," by Hal Urban. He's a believer in celebrating life!

Birthday Baskets Make Her Feel Special with These Special Gifts For Friend and Family

Birthday baskets and being remembered, makes us feel special on our big day and that's what all the fuss is about.

It's also about giving you ideas and remembering that what we do today or say, we may forget tomorrow, but not for the one who's the center of attention. Kind words and deeds stay with them for a very long time.

And wouldn't it be fun to reach a certain age, while staying in pristine condition, enjoying life for years to come? Most of us would love that, but scientists still have a few wrinkles to iron out yet, before that happens. So, on your birthday, don't you just love it when someone makes you feel special by remembering your big day?

I know, birthday baskets have always made my daughter feel like a million bucks.

Her birthday is smack-dab in the middle of January. Christmas has past and Flagstaff, Arizona is colder than cold. Coming home from school was always a big deal on birthdays.

Instead of a having a bouquet of balloons delivered to her at school, I had a birthday baskets sitting on the table, when she arrived home. Later, we would have her favorite dinner and then she'd blow out her candles and wish upon her dreams.

This particular time, her father and I had placed the money in the creative basket for her class ring. I didn't think she'd ever calm down, she was so excited. Still today, it's a favorite memory for all of us.

The point is: if you want to make her feel exceptional, adding or choosing creative birthday presents you know she'll love means you're remembering her in a special way. You can also choose from gourmet chocolate gift baskets to snack baskets or whatever her favorite food or bath and spa gift solutions are.

These special gifts for a friend are simple, yet fun and you can call us or email us if you want to customize your basket or if you want us to add a personal gift for you. You can keep her smiling by remembering the days she's set aside, as the days she considers to be special.

Happy Birthday!

Holiday Baskets Trimmed in Holiday Food Gifts

Don’t you just love this time of the year? It’s a delicious time of the year, however you celebrate the holiday season.

And it’s that time of the year, when holiday baskets make life tasty.

The festivities of Thanksgiving dinner parties, shopping and all the hustle and bustle and thankfulness for family and friends, revolves around delicious aromas, tastes and the delightful sights of fall.

It's that time of the year, when we express our gratitude to our hosts and chefs for fine feasts and when holiday baskets are a gourmet way to say thank you.

Thanksgiving revolves around fun, gratitude and holiday food gifts. The closer we get, we know we can smell the aroma of freshly baked bread and taste the scrumptiousness of pumpkin pie...topped with whipped cream.

It's almost as though we wait patiently for these holiday food gifts to arrive, from the moment fall sets in. We like all of the trimmings, including cheese logs, summer sausage and gourmet crackers.

Holiday baskets host an array of deliciousness, including olives, smoked salmon and gourmet chocolate gifts. These holiday food gifts bring us warmth, when it’s cold outside, as we sit by the fireside sipping gourmet coffee, hot chocolate and teas.

We’ll dine on gourmet feasts and snack on goodies and treats from now until the New Year, basking in the tastes of our favorite foods. We’ll find a flavorsome way to convey our gratitude and caring ways, when it’s time to say thanks for the invite or we missed you this year.

Yes, it’s a wonderful time of the year and holiday baskets adds to the festivities of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

Tip of the Day!

As many as 107 million of us will celebrate Thanksgiving with all the traditional trimmings. And the day after, many of us will be shopping at malls and online for our Holiday Christmas Gifts. Either way, make your list and check it twice to see if it has what your family and friends like.

Enjoying the gift giving process should be a pleasure for both the giver and receiver.
